Hey there! I’m Keszeg Alexandru, and I’m a tech enthusiast at heart and this is my dumping ground to all things related to software development and infra.

Vector Qryn Logs

I have been exploring expanding my observability stack for my home lab. In the past, I have worked with Loki and Grafana in the context of Kubernetes, but I didn’t want to dive into that once more. I recently came across an exciting new project called qryn, which describes itself as a polyglot observability framework. What caught my attention was its API compatibility with Loki and Prometheus. Operating a single system integrated with Grafana sounds appealing, so I set up a small test on my local machine.

RAM Compatibility Woes: Troubleshooting My NUC 12 Pro

I recently experienced a frustrating and puzzling issue with my NUC 12 Pro1 and Proxmox. The system would crash randomly after several hours to a few days of running. There is a large forum thread with similar issues at proxmox forum2, and I followed all the recommendations there. Still, despite upgrading BIOS, CPU microcode, and installing the latest kernels, my system kept crashing randomly. One of the recommendations was to check the memory with a memtest, which I did one stick at a time, and both passed.
